After Dinner

Tonight we had spaghetti for dinner. I found some noodles at Fred’s that didn’t contain egg and used Tomato and Basil Bertolli spaghetti sauce (One of the very few I have found with no soy or dairy) with browned hamburger meat. It was yummy.

After Dinner this is what we did:

Enough for one day!

Jon’s Birthday

Well, I have done it again… gone too long with out blogging.

Since I’ve posted last we celebrated Jon’s Birthday on September 16th. He found a good deal on a grill at Home Depot and bought it so I got him a grill basket and some skewers to go with it. Kaylee made her daddy a  plaster of paris foot print to put in his office at work.

We also went to Bulls Gap to see Kaylee’s Granny and Pappaw and celebrate all the birthdays (Uncle Mike’s, Granny’s, Pappaw’s and Jon’s). Since I have to be careful what I eat, I made cupcakes using this recipe. (Click on recipe to view) It is soy, all nuts, dairy and egg free. For the chocolate chips I used Enjoy Life Semi Sweet chips, and instead of water I used Chocolate Rice Drink. I forgot to take pictures of them but they were pretty good. Not as good as regular cake but eatable. Here are some pictures of that weekend.CIMG3493 CIMG3482 CIMG3489

Kaylee loved visiting with her grandparents! As soon as we got there she carried on the biggest conversation with her Pappaw even though she had been in the car for a VERY long time.

We also celebrated Jon’s birthday with my parents and at my Mammaw’s house..  Jon has had a lot of birthdays! We had a great time at both places. The camera with the pictures of the birthday at Mammaw’s  got left at Mammaw’s I think so I don’t have those, but here are some from when we went and celebrated at Mom and Dad’s.  CIMG3516 CIMG3517CIMG3520 CIMG3518

2 Months ALREADY?

I packed them up. Kaylee’s newborn clothes that is. When people tell you to enjoy every minute, that they grow so fast, they are right. I never really understood this until I became a mom and here I am already with a two month old! (Well tomorrow anyway!)  I have enjoyed her so much, the coos, the smiles, and this morning a laugh! Even with her belly troubles, she has been a joy, and I am convinced she is the best baby ever! ( I know, I know, don’t we all think our baby is the best. :)

Here is some of what she has been up to:CIMG3321CIMG3322

One of the cutest things about Kaylee is how she sleeps (so peaceful and cute) and wakes up. Always with a big ole stretch!

Here is the update from the GI doctor:

Dr. Devoid confirmed the protein allergy and had me stop eating nuts in any form and eggs in addition to the dairy and soy I was already off. We continued to give Kaylee Nutramigen formula until we were out of it to let my body get rid of as many of those proteins as possible. We started back on breast milk this past Friday and Kaylee seems do be doing well on it. She still has a fussy time in the afternoon, but she hasn’t had any bloody stools so that is good!

She is also starting to sleep better at night! I know I wrote a sleeping through the night post a while back ago, but she didn’t so that again until just the other night. We’ll see if it keeps up!

I am feeling hopeful now! I was so worried that even with going off all those things I wouldn’t be able to breast feed her. I am glad that I have found some foods to eat and now that I have rid my cabinets of all the “bad” stuff, it isn’t too hard to want for what I can’t have. Holidays will be hard though. That’s the newest thing I am worried about. Thank you for all your prayers for Kaylee!

Here is the latest EVERYTHING free thing I have tried, the Enjoy life boom CHOCO boom bar! YUMMM!!! I hope Santa brings me some of these for Christmas! (THEY HONESTLY TASTE GREAT!!!!!!!)

Manna from God!

"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour  to his life?  And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, `What will we eat?' or `What will we drink?' or `What will we wear for clothing?' For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:25-33

Yesterday Jon and I met to get our flu shots and I went to go pick up my last check from the county office. In between the two, we stopped at this thrift store in Ringgold that was having a “box sale”. The ladies at his work rave about it. You get a bag and anything you can fit in the bag you get for a dollar and seven cents.

Back up…

The night before Jon and I were reading our couple’s devotion and talking about different things. We discussed who and what we wanted to pray for and one of the things was that I would be able to find food to eat on this diet and that I wouldn’t accidentally eat something that would hurt Kaylee. (I had also mentioned to Jon on a few  other occasions that we might should get a bread machine but we are trying to be good stewards of our money since we are down to one income.) ISN’T it COOL how God provides!

In the stack of a bunch of junk was a treasure, A GIFT from God!

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who,  when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how  much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! “  Matthew 7:7-11

A BREAD MACHINE!!!!

CIMG3363I wasn’t sure it would work but thought.. “Hey… for a dollar, I can try it! “ We took it home and looked online for the manual and found it without a problem. After sending Jon to find some yeast, I made my first attempt. IT WAS PITIFUL!!!!!!!

CIMG3358Later I found out why. I substituted a lot of things to make it soy, nut, egg, and dairy free and when I substituted the milk for rice milk, it was cold. Apparently yeast won’t work if it isn’t warm. So next time I’ll know for that recipe to heat my milk!

Instead of trying that recipe again I tried this one:

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F /45 degrees C)
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place water, sugar, salt, oil, bread flour and yeast into pan of bread machine.
  2. Bake on White Bread setting . Cool on wire racks before slicing.

Simple enough! AND IT WORKED!!!! CIMG3360
