Kaylee 2 Weeks Old

Yesterday was Kaylee’s 2 week Birthday and we are enjoying her sooo much! Since our last post, she has gotten to see her grandparents, other family, and several friends. She also has gained back her birth weight, had her first bath, and had her first tummy time! She was even babysitted by her Nannie because our computer broke and we wanted to go look at new ones together.Today we visited her doctor who gave her a clean bill of health and told us that we can start letting her sleep during the night instead of waking her up every three hours!!!! YEA!!!!!! Momma is sooo excited about this.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

Tomorrow I go back to the doctor to see if I get a clean bill of health! I am feeling pretty good, so good that sometimes I forget to take my mandated  medicine.. oops! The other optional medicine is rarely needed! I’ll let you all know how well Kaylee does sleeping through the night!! :)

Kaylee's Birthday

On July 15th Jon and I took a trip to the hospital to have our baby girl, Kaylee Marie. We went on date day the day before and had a wonderful breakfast at Aretha Frankenstein's and then a delicious supper at Tony's. Because I had a scheduled C-section at 12:00, I wasn't allowed to eat anything after midnight till after the surgery.

Here we are the morning of the 15th, ready to go meet our baby girl!

When we got to the hospital, they put an IV in and strapped me up to monitor Kaylee. We found out that I was having pretty good contractions and I was told to stay in the bed. The nurse came in and was starting to pump massive amounts of fluids in me through the IV to get me ready for the c-section when another nurse came in and said they had an emergency c-section and that I would have to be bumped. Then I was told Dr. Brody had another c-section scheduled for 1:30, and that mine wouldn't come until 4:30. Ohh... I almost died! (Not really, I just was starving and I desperately wanted to walk around, but they wouldn't let me because of the contractions!!)

At 4:00 the nurses came in and started the fluids up again. Then I walked over to the OR where they gave me a spinal block (one of the weirdest feelings in the world, but it didn't hurt.) As soon as they put me on my back, Jon was able to come in. He held my hand as this conversation took place:

Dr. Brody: "So, can you feel anything?"

Me: " Umm... I don't think so"

Dr. Brody: " Well that's good since I've already cut you! "

All I could do was grin because I knew it wasn't long till I would see my baby. Also, I was elated that I couldn't feel anything ( I was a little afraid that I would.)

At 5:07pm, Kaylee came out and I could hear her cry. It wasn't long before they let Jon hold her and he brought her over to my side and let me kiss and touch her. I remember thinking how soft she was and how perfect she looked.

They cleaned and sewed me up and wheeled me off to the Recovery room where the grandparents got to come and briefly meet her and I was able to breast feed. I felt GREAT! Until they took her to go to the nursery. Boo!

It was four LONG hours later that they finally brought her to me in the Mother/Baby room. Jon took this video.

By this time, it was 10:00. Most of our families had to leave because of travel distances and didn't even get to hold Kaylee. That was the only bad part of the whole day. Here are some pictures of Jon and my Mom holding Kaylee.

Isn't she beautiful!!!

Here is a video of Kaylee's first hiccups outside the womb. She got them all the time in my tummy and still gets them often 9 days later.

On Friday we were ready to go home. Here is Kaylee all snug in her carseat.

When we got home, we gave Kaylee her first sponge bath. She likes it only when the water is on one part of her at a time. Once it gets all on her, she gets cold and cries.

As soon as she is bundled up, she is back to her sweet self!

We have enjoyed her so much in one short week and a half! I am doing very good, healing up well and in WAY LESS pain than I thought I'd be in! God is soo good!

July 15th and other Updates

Yesterday I had another appointment with Dr. Brody. He went to put the ultrasound on my belly and said "Holy Cow! Katie.. she is big... how much did you weigh when you were born??" Jon and I explained that we were both over 9lbs at birth and that he was close to 10 and early! We discussed the options and I started to freak out! We decided to go home to think and pray about it. After doing this and talking to our families and some friends, we have decided to do a c-section on July 15th!!!!!!!! We can't wait till she is here!!!!!!!!!

The nursery is pretty much finished! I just need to find a shade and put it up and add a couple more details to it. Here are some of the pictures of baby Kaylee's room!

This froggy picture was given to Kaylee from Lora Miller. She painted it! It is beautiful goes perfectly in her room!

These cute pictures were made by my Mom, Dad, and brother. How talented they are! :)

Kaylee's bag is packed. We are ready for her to make her apperance~ ON JULY 15th!!!!!!!!!!!

I made these letters with ribbon that was on the diaper cake at one of the showers for Kaylee!

Jon's Mom and Dad came down Sunday to visit! It was soo good to see them! They brought all kinds of stuff that Judy had gotten at a Grandma Shower. Isn't this time out chair cute!?!

Here's pictures of my short hair cut. I am starting to get used to it. I tried to get the back of it in the mirror... I need some photography lessons!!!

Here are the shelves that Jon made for our garage. I think he is almost running out of projects!

Thats all I have for now... Please pray that Kaylee arrives safely on the 15th!
